well, it finally happened. 4 of us girls decided we needed a girls night out w/o the husbands and w/o the kids. what could be better than having a couple of drinks somewhere and then go grab some dinner afterwards, just the four of us?
so we went to a bar/restaurant called employees only (http://www.employeesonlynyc.com/). mind you that i have not gone to a bar in like FOREVER. what was i gonna wear? what conversations would we have? what cool drinks would i order? all these thoughts were going through my head. this is nyc, so i was expecting to be surrounded by the 20-something cool party people. so just getting ready for the night was a little stressful. i wanted to blend in and not stick out like a sore thumb. i really wanted this night where i was gonna let go and have a fabulous time.
anyways, we get to the bar and it's pretty packed. it's pretty cool b/c when you walk in you see a fortune teller (only in ny). when we got seated it was at a really small table. the host guy was very apologetic and said that there weren't any bigger tables available. since we got stuck at this tiny table, the host guy brought us over some complimentary champagne. so already the night was starting off good. i guess this place was known for their different kinds of drinks. when we looked at the drink menu, we couldn't even understand half of what was on it. after asking a couple of questions, we ordered our food and drinks.
during our meal, we had some real good conversations. it was really fun to just hang out with the girls and just talk about girls stuff. then, the host guy comes along again and bring over a bottle of rose champagne. we were a little confused since we didn't order the champagne. he then tells us that it's from the husband of one of the ladies that we were out with. we were all pleasantly surprised. it felt like a sex and the city moment. it was very cool.
after dinner, the host guy comes around again, this time he brings us over some dessert wine. we couldn't believe it. at this point we were all pretty wasted. overall, it was a great night. we all had a good time. we really needed that.
